The Sankofa Student Agency Coalition aims to inform and encourage a pedagogy that acknowledges students' roles and sociocultural contexts as fundamental prerequisites for designing curricular practice.
Participating Schools
(2023-2026)
Sankofa Scholarship Collective is proud to partner with schools across Detroit that believe in student voice, leadership, and joyful, culturally grounded learning. Together, we create spaces where young people feel seen, supported, and ready to lead their communities forward.
These partnerships help bring powerful opportunities—like youth research, financial literacy, college and career exploration, and community action projects—straight to students who deserve them most.

Welcome to Sankofa — the program everyone wishes they had joined sooner.
Why Students Run Toward Sankofa!
Because here, they get to:
• Lead big ideas
• Make real change
• Create dope projects with friends
• Meet mentors who hype them up
• Step into their power — boldly
This isn’t after-school.
This is a vibe.
A movement.
A family.
Why Parents Love It: Students come home brighter, bolder, and more confident—ready to take on the world and dream even bigger.
Don’t Miss Out!
If your student wants to be where the magic, momentum, and brilliance are happening…
Sankofa is the place.
The moment is now.
And trust — you don’t want to be on the outside looking in.

"The investment in Black children in education is critical, and this couldn’t have been more evident through seeing the kids grow into impassioned young leaders through the Sankofa program. I am a better person because of Sanlofa, and so is everyone else who has been a part of this experience!"
- Jordan Roebuck
"Growing with my peers throughout this experience, opened my eyes to so much more than what is taught to me. The next time someone tries to preach “Black Excellence” tell them to just say BLACK! Excellence is understood."
- B Leo
